Job Overview: We are looking for a passionate and customer-oriented Nursery and Garden Center Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a love for plants, gardening, and the outdoors, and have a desire to help customers create beautiful, thriving gardens. In this role, you will assist customers with selecting plants, gardening supplies, and provide expert advice to ensure their gardening needs are met. You will also maintain the nursery's appearance, inventory, and ensure the highest level of customer service is delivered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Service: Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable guidance regarding plant selection, gardening supplies, and proper care techniques. Ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Product Knowledge: Stay informed about various plant species, gardening tools, fertilizers, and other related products to effectively answer customer inquiries.
- Plant Care & Maintenance: Assist with the care of plants, including watering, pruning, weeding and arranging plants to ensure they remain healthy and attractive.
- Stocking & Inventory: Help with restocking shelves, organizing the garden center, and ensuring the proper rotation of inventory. Alert management of low stock.
- Sales Support: Promote garden products, seasonal items, and special promotions. Upsell related items (e.g., pots, soil, garden tools) to enhance the customer’s shopping experience.
- General Maintenance: Assist in keeping the nursery clean, organized, and visually appealing. This includes sweeping, watering, and arranging displays.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Previous experience in a garden center, nursery, or retail environment is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of plants, gardening, and horticulture preferred. Willingness to learn and grow in the field.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 50 lbs), work in various weather conditions, and stand for long periods.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customers, team members, and management.
- Customer Focus: Enthusiastic about helping customers and providing them with the best possible service.
