The Fellowship and Success Advisor provides academic advising and coaching to a cohort of students from matriculation through graduation. They assist students with academic planning and navigating the resources, expectations, and challenges of being a Goucher student and coach students in developing and deepening academic life skills. The Fellowship and Success Advisor is also responsible for overseeing national fellowships - recruiting students for these fellowships and advising them through the process.

Required: Required (or completion of degree upon hiring): Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Student Development, Higher Education or related field.
Professional Experience:

Experience in working with students in a higher education setting.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate active approaches of fostering an inclusive academic community that embraces diverse student identities and uses an equity-based approach to their work.
Preferred:
Three years' experience in academic advising and/or coaching, including work with at-risk students, transfer students, undecided students, low-income and first-generation students, or student-athletes.

Essential Job Functions:
A. Serve as an advisor to a cohort of students - from matriculation to graduation (academic planning, course registration, connection to campus resources, selecting majors and minors, understanding policies and procedures and developing post-graduation plans).
- Support advisees academically by proactively monitoring students'' progress and performance, identifying academic challenges, and co-creating a holistic academic success plan that addresses academic difficulties.
- Meet with students individually and in groups to develop and deepen academic life skills such as time management, organization, studying, note-taking, reading and test-taking strategies.
- Provide coaching and guidance throughout students' undergraduate careers that address self-care, socio-emotional well-being and career related issues.
- Connect students with Goucher resources to support academic success (Writing Center, QR Center, Supplemental Instruction, and Content-Area tutoring).
- Create, coordinate, and deliver workshop series on various academic and student success topics, including time management, organization, reading, note-taking, and study strategies and other academic policies and procedures.
- Support students' access and use of online platforms including Canvas, the Goucher Portal, Academic Catalogue, myGoucher, Degree Works, and EAB Student Success Collaborative.
- Track student progress by running reports, analyzing student data, and communicating with students' regarding registration, grades and graduation.
B. Work closely with key Success Team Partners:
- Collaborate with staff in the Office of Global Education, Career Education Office and the Office of Community Based Learning to connect students with study abroad, internships, and community-based experiences to create a bridge between these experiences and their intended program of study.
- Proactively and collaboratively monitor student progress and performance, analyze problem areas, brainstorm to identify solutions, and conduct intervention strategies.
- Make referrals for personal or academic issues as appropriate.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff and students to develop programs, services, or opportunities to support Goucher Students' success.
- Lead Success Team cases and collaborate as appropriate with other Success Team members and Care Team members.
- Collaborate with Student Support and Outreach (SSO) and the Care Team to outreach to students' with socio-emotional concerns and refer them when appropriate to other campus resources.
C. Recruit candidates to nominate for prestigious national fellowships and advise them throughout the process.
- Coordinate teams of faculty and staff to provide feedback on materials, conduct mock interviews, etc.
