What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager position at Gourmandise Restaurant Group?
Starting base salary of $65,000 - $75, 000 per year depending on experience with a bonus structure that could make the potential earning up to $90,000 per year!
Gourmandise is a full service, three day part, restaurant with an award winning bakery. We seat 70 inside, 30 on the patio and also have a robust carry out business. The GM is to maintain operational standards while enthusiastically providing winning experiences to our loyal guests. We support our stores from our Salt Lake City headquarters and are committed to helping each of our locations be industry leaders with a passionate multi-site team. We promote from within our stores and across stores, giving us a great “bench” to draw from. The GM will report to the Director of Retail Operations. Restaurant operating hours are Monday through Friday, 8 am to 9 pm, Saturday 8 am to 10 pm, and Sunday 9 am to 2 pm.
Responsibilities and Job Duties
- Hire, train and mentor team members to become rock-star advocates. Coaching with compassion to develop and grow team members providing constant, gentle pressure. We seek to “catch people in the act of doing good”
- Fiscally minded purchases and inventory. Creative in strategies to grow sales and reduce costs while maintaining quality. Our executive team creates budgets and tracks and reports all the relevant data to the store GM. It is the GM’s role to meet set budgets and respond to changes in store-level Sales or Expenses.
- Develop strong relationships and communication with account managers, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Manages controls for compliance with alcohol laws and regulations to safely serve guests.
- Lead by example regarding standard operating procedures, productivity, quality, and system improvements. The ability to think outside the box, innovate, and adapt is a must.
- Develop trust and communication with guests and team members. Cultivate feedback and turn it into positive actionable items and plans to improve guest and working experience. Complete quarterly reviews on all store level employees.
- Partner with the Kitchen Manage/Chef de Cuisine by being hands-on with the quality of food and beverage and service, finger on the pulse for quality standards.
- The health and safety of our guests and team are of the utmost priority. We expect high support and high accountability with exceeding health department standards. One needs to have a sharp focus on sanitation and security. We ask that you have an adaptable, creative, and compliant approach to the needs of our team during Covid-19.
- Ensuring that staffing schedules and models are set up for success and adjusted according to the budget forecasted.
- Work a mix of mornings, days, evenings, and weekends. Being supported by a FOH manager, team leads, and the central management team allows a schedule that can be built with lifestyle in mind while still being committed to the restaurant’s success as the leader.

- Extensive Food and Beverage knowledge as well as familiar with local liquor laws

Requirements
- 5-10 years in a restaurant management position. Preferably 3 years of General Manager or Senior Leadership
- Knowledge about driving sales and meeting financial goals
- A results-driven individual with a demonstrated record of prior success
- Open availability and flexible schedule for sometimes demanding hours
- Stamina to work 45-50 hours in a typical week.
- Experience in a high-volume setting
- Quick learner or proficient in software and technology used to manage the business (Toast, Google Workspace, Hotschedules, etc.)
