Job Overview
The position is responsible for directing the activities associated with up to 30 Delivery Drivers and supervisory personnel. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, strategic overview and implementation of projects, expense and revenue management, compliance with government regulations, management and direction to operations and staff and security and safety of the Transportation department.
What does your day look like? Some of your duties may include:
Directs the daily work and safety of Delivery Drivers, supervisors, routing personnel and other associates.
Ensures that management staff is effectively managing day-to-day delivery activities, including but not limited to Delivery Associate adherence to standard operating procedures, adherence to planned routes, and providing safe and efficient customer service.
Ensures Delivery Associate compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. DOT, OSHA, etc.) and ensures that electronic logs are kept current and accurate.
Prepares budget, profit plans, and capital requests as required.
Interprets trains and consistently enforces Company policies and procedures.
Performs the duties of associates supervised and other related duties as needed (as qualified).
Things you need to be able to do:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational and time management skills, ability to follow directions, and meet deadlines. Both local and national geographic knowledge is required.
Must have excellent computer skills.
Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments, operating companies and Corporate in a proactive and constructive manner.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Things that are a plus:
College degree preferred but not required.
Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, forecasting, and analytics experience is a plus.
5 years of transportation management.
