Job Overview:
The Key Account Representative will be responsible for sales of laboratory supplies, equipment, instrumentation, and chemicals within a defined set of federal government accounts. They will serve customers primarily engaged in life science and molecular biology, biomedical, chemistry and chemical analysis, clinical diagnostics, optics, photonics, and other related fields of research. The successful incumbent will be skilled at developing collaborative business partnerships through continuous contact, proactively identifying opportunities for growth to ensure market penetration and profitability.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with assigned federal government customers.
- Advance and execute sales strategies and plans to exceed sales objectives.
- Implement effective territory planning and make significant field sales calls with customers.
- Maximize other customer touchpoints with emails, virtual meetings, social media contact, and additional marketing support.
- Potentially attend internal and external developed product and trade shows.
- Research competitors and industry activities.
- Incorporate found data into a business plan to introduce new products and services.
- Grow accounts by reviewing buying history, suggesting related and new items, and providing some customer/technical support.
- Maintain accurate reporting, records, and files.
- Cross- team collaboration to follow up on opportunities.
- Positively represent GSS throughout customer locations.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, science or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software.
- Strong time and territory management experience
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills.
- Possess excellent organizational skills to multi-task while meeting deadlines.
- Strong industry, laboratory, and science background preferred.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years of sales experience preferred.
- Dynamics NAV, Oracle Cloud and a CRM a plus.

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Travel Required:
This is a field-based position requiring travel to the assigned customer location on a daily basis.
Work Authorization:
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
