Job Overview:
Assigned to specific government agencies, the Sales Representative will nurture and develop collaborative partnerships with their customer base, garnering a deeper understanding of their unique scientific and laboratory needs. They will proactively seek out opportunities to expand their knowledge regarding GSS offerings as well as to grow business. The successful incumbent will be goal driven, skilled at developing business relationships and an accomplished communicator who excels at collaborating with internal departments to accomplish business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and continually grow relationships with customers. Develop a deeper understanding of their unique needs through regular communication, striving to maximize sales and profitability.
- Provide sales order quotes as required for customer accounts. Price sales orders in a manner to maximize profits.
- Enter sales orders for processing.
- Investigate and respond to customer inquiries, ensuring timely responses.
- Continually assess customer needs, identifying opportunities to grow business.
- Meet and exceed assigned sales objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as defined by the Director of Sales.
- Research products and educate oneself on specific laboratory needs for customer accounts. Seek out opportunities to expand knowledge of GovSci product offerings translating knowledge into opportunities to expand sales.
- Follow up on outstanding orders, providing status updates to customers.
- Collaborate cross departmentally with Customer Service, Purchasing, Supplier Management, Accounting and Marketing to ensure optimized workflow and to share insight gathered from the field.
- Develop strategies to increase efficiency and maximize profitability to further grow GovSci business initiatives.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- High school diploma.
- Associate or Bachelor degree is preferred.
- 6- 10 years of professional experience.
- 1-2 years of sales representative experience.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Travel Required:
Less than 10% travel to strategic customer locations, events, training or to suppliers.
Work Authorization:
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
