What are the responsibilities and job description for the Firearm Instructor position at Governor’s Gun Club?
Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct students in various firearms courses, ensuring a safe, structured, and effective learning environment.
- Develop and implement training sessions according to established curriculum and safety standards.
- Conduct practical and theoretical assessments of students to ensure they meet training objectives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on firearms safety, laws, and training methodologies.
Requirements:
- Coursework Completion : The candidate must attend and successfully pass the coursework for the specific firearms training they wish to instruct.
- Advanced Training : The candidate must attend and successfully pass coursework for at least one level higher than the level they are authorized to teach.
- Personnel Integrity : The candidate must have NO outstanding personnel issues or disciplinary actions.
- Instructor Certification : candidate holds instructor certification from an accrediting agency such as the NRA, USCCA, Rangemaster, GA POST, Military, or other recognized organizations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in firearms training or law enforcement/military background.
- Strong communication and instructional skills.
- Ability to work with diverse student groups in both individual and group settings.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Specialized Training: Completion of specialized law enforcement or military firearms training courses (e.g., tactical shooting, defensive tactics, close-quarters combat) is strongly preferred.
- Experience in competition shooting
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Vision- must be able to see with or without corrective lenses. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. The employee will be required to be clean-shaven as the individual will be required to wear half-mask respirators to perform duties of the position.
Availability:
- Ability to work an open schedule, including evenings, holidays and weekends as necessary to meet the needs of GGC. Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
