Under the supervision of the Director of Constituent Affairs and Senior Constituent Affairs Representative, the Mailroom Assistant performs a variety of administrative functions of the office associated with mail processing.

These duties include processing, sorting, scanning, and data entry to a correspondence tracking system. The mailroom assistant will deliver mail to staff, prepare outgoing mail, and provide relief coverage for the receptionist. The Mailroom Assistant will exercise a high degree of initiative and understanding of the serious impact of decisions. The incumbent must comply with state and departmental rules/regulations and office policies/practices.

The incumbent must possess the ability to understand and operate UPS computer-based tracking system, as well as other simple computer-based functions.

Working Conditions

Candidates with the most desirable qualifications will be invited for interviews. Interviews will be held in Sacramento, California. The Mailroom Assistant serves at the pleasure of the Governor and is an “Exempt” position, therefore appointment to this position and salary are subject to executive approval.

Special Requirements

The Mailroom Assistant requires the ability to lift up to 25lbs with mechanical assistance, squatting, bending, twisting, reaching overhead, repetitive motion, and extended periods of continuous sitting and/or standing. Requires the ability to cope with exposure to questionable photos/materials.
