Job description
The Warehouse Associate role is responsible for receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping merchandise within a warehouse, ensuring accurate inventory management by performing tasks like loading and unloading deliveries, organizing stock, and operating warehouse equipment while adhering to safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and Processing Inventory:
Unloading incoming deliveries, verifying quantities and condition of goods against purchase orders, and receiving items into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Picking and Packing Orders:
Accurately selecting products from storage locations based on customer orders, packing items appropriately for shipment, and labeling packages.
- Shipping and Loading:
Preparing orders for delivery by generating shipping labels and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Inventory Management:
Maintaining accurate stock levels by performing cycle counts, identifying discrepancies, and reporting inventory issues.
- Warehouse Organization:
Properly storing products in designated locations, rotating stock to maintain FIFO, and keeping the warehouse clean and organized.
- Operating Warehouse Equipment:
Safely operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Quality Control:
Inspecting products for damage or defects before shipping.
- Data Entry:
Entering relevant information into the WMS system, including receiving details, picking lists, and shipping information.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive movements.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in picking and packing orders to minimize errors.
- Basic Computer Skills: Proficiency in using warehouse management systems, Microsoft Office, and shipping software (UPS Worldship, FedEx).
- Safety Awareness: Understanding and following warehouse safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and protective equipment.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with other warehouse associates to meet deadlines.
- Forklift Certification or willingness to be trained on a forklift.
