GovFirst is currently seeking a Cable Technician to support our client in Washington D.C. and surrounding areas.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the cabling infrastructure that supports GovFirst's internal network and customer-facing systems. This role requires technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work in both team settings and independently in the field.
- Assist in configuring network devices and components (routers, switches, etc.) to ensure seamless communication across the network. Verify connectivity and bandwidth to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow all safety guidelines and industry standards for working with electrical and data cabling. Adhere to proper handling, storage, and disposal of materials to ensure workplace safety.
- Maintain accurate records of cabling installations, repairs, and maintenance work performed. Document cable routes, equipment locations, and other technical details for reference.
- Provide on-site support for end users during installations and service calls. Explain the work being done in a clear, customer-friendly manner.
- Work with internal teams, including system administrators and network engineers, to ensure that the cabling infrastructure supports network expansion and system integration needs.
- Perform routine inspections of existing cable systems to ensure they are functioning properly. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with the cabling, hardware connections, and network systems.
- Install and set up cable systems (data, video, and audio cables) for new office spaces, network infrastructures, and client systems. Ensure that all installations meet safety and quality standards.
- Replace or repair damaged cables, connectors, and other hardware components. Perform cable splicing, testing, and reconfiguration as necessary to restore services and enhance system reliability.
