Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will operate a variety of heavy machinery used in construction, excavation, and other related activities. This role requires a strong focus on safety, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with project teams to ensure efficient completion of tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, forklifts, and other machinery as required.
- Perform pre-operation inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications to execute tasks accurately.
- Conduct site preparation, excavation, grading, trenching, and material movement.
- Maintain equipment by cleaning, fueling, and performing minor repairs or adjustments.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other site personnel to meet project deadlines.
- Monitor job site conditions to identify potential hazards and report issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of daily equipment use, maintenance, and project progress.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Valid heavy equipment operator certification or license.
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery in construction or related fields.
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance and basic repair procedures.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and other relevant regulations.
- Strong hand-eye coordination and physical stamina to perform strenuous tasks.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and on challenging terrain.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and operating machinery.
- Manual dexterity and the ability to work in confined spaces or at heights as needed.
