Job Summary
The Site Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing construction projects from inception to completion. This position requires a strong leader who can ensure that all work is performed according to specifications, on schedule, and within budget. The Site Superintendent will coordinate with various stakeholders, including contractors, clients, and team members, to maintain high standards of quality and safety throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Full time responsibility and ownership of assigned project/s to effectively maintain schedule, budget, safety and customer expectations per the project contract.
- Adhere to all safety policies, OSHA, customer and/or site-specific safety requirements.
- Provide management and supervision of SSU vendors and contractors and ensure adequate resources and information to perform their tasks safely, effectively, and efficiently.
- Receive and follow guidance from Construction Managers and Project Managers for the lifecycle of their respective projects
. * Assist Construction Manager and Project Manager in performance evaluations trades and vendors.
- Conduct and document daily safety huddles (Toolbox Talks) at the beginning of each workday with a topic(s) relevant to the work to be performed.
- Ensure job sites remain safe, clean, and orderly.
- Plan and coordinate the construction process with the Project Manager.
- Review, understand, and manage project scope of work, specifications, and overall project details and execute site activities accordingly.
- Ensure all required resources, materials, equipment, and inspections occur to support the project schedule.
- Monitor and report project progress via daily reports using SSU’s Project Management software (Procore)
- Resolve on-site issues and emergencies. Report safety emergencies immediately to project manager. Document issues and their resolution in the daily reports.
- Coordinate Warranty/Service Calls with the Operations Coordinator.
- Perform visual inspections of company trucks, trailers, equipment, and tools on a regular basis and communicate and coordinate maintenance with the Operations Coordinator.
- Obtain and maintain the following: o First Aid/CPR/AED Certification o OSHA 30 and EM 385 Certification o Formal Equipment Training for: skid-steer/track loader, all-terrain forklift, boom lift, scissor lift and other equipment as required
Qualifications and Skills
- Safety conscious. * Problem solver. * Lead by positive example. * Team player. * Results driven. * Responsible, reliable, and dependable. * Able to lift 75 pounds by yourself. * Able to work at heights up to 40 feet. * Able to work outdoors, year-round on typical construction sites.
- Must be flexible with the work schedule as the project requires. Project hours are expected to be 7a-5p Monday – Friday, Certain circumstances will required additional hours beyond these times and weekends to maintain schedule.
- Must be willing to travel and stay overnight for up to 14 days at a time (US and overseas).
- Must have basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
. * Must be proficient at reading Gantt chart style schedules. Experience with scheduling software (i.e. Microsoft Projects, Smartsheets, Primavera) a plus.
- Must be able to read blueprints/plans and schedule trades and vendors accordingly to meet schedule.
- Must be a US Citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must have minimum 5 years of experience as a project site superintendent or similar supervisory position in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of quality, safety, and health guidelines for construction. * In-depth understanding of construction operations and processes.
- Able to perform construction math computations and calculations.
- Must be able to pass various criminal history background checks (i.e. FBI Criminal History, Child Abuse, etc.).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
