Job Description :
The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) Data Office team is seeking up to two senior-level Power BI / SQL Developers with strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills. This role requires close collaboration with Business, IT, and other stakeholders to support the Data Quality Enhancement initiative and other development efforts. The candidate should be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Responsibilities :
- Maintain the confidentiality of all business data and adhere to VRS data security policies .
- Deliver all tasks within agreed-upon timelines.
- Provide regular status updates and attend required meetings.
- Develop, design, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements.
- Create interactive visualizations, reports, and dashboards to monitor Critical Data Elements .
- Optimize reports and advise on best practices in data visualization .
- Work closely with business stakeholders to translate data needs into actionable reports.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for data retrieval and manipulation.
- Write complex DAX queries to enhance report functionality and performance.
- Support KPIs and other performance indicators through report development.
- Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI and SQL tools.
- Review SQL Queries, Execution Plans, Partitions, and Indexing for performance enhancements.
- Convert Excel data manipulation activities into automated solutions to reduce processing time.
- Work on special projects assigned by the Chief Operating Officer or Data Officer .
