What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Inspector position at GP Machining A Division of Spectron LLC?
Position Overview:
As a Quality Inspector for an Aerospace & Defense manufacturer, you will be responsible for examining very intricate and tightly toleranced components, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure they meet the company's quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements. You will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity and safety of products we manufacture. Responsible for the DAILY inspection and overall quality of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established quality standards and blueprints. Proposes corrective actions to improve compliance with quality specifications and communicates with QC supervisor and management to ensure proactive continuous improvement. Recommends new or improved quality control methods, procedures, and/or Standards as needed. Work collaboratively with other Quality Technicians and work in a very team-based environment to manage daily goals and reach overall success. This role must have a minimum of 3-5 years of machining experience as well as understanding of in process QC and First Articles. Experience with a quality control role or systems preferred. Familiarity with ISO and specifically AS9100 a plus.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform conventional/traditional inspection procedures such as setting up and performing precision inspections utilizing all forms of precision measuring equipment. Inspections include first article inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection.
- First Article Inspection (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)
- Create inspection reports, first article reports, nonconformance reports.
- Assist machinists in the usage of inspection equipment, drawing interpretation, and other quality related activities.
- Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operator, maintains, and generates CMM Programs used to inspect and verify production materials and components.
- Maintain all measuring equipment and calibration
Soft Skills:
High attention to detail, highly organized and adaptive., Must be able to multi-task and work in fast paced environment while still being able to complete tasks and meet deadlines. Needs to be self-starter with strong problem-solving skills. Must have extremely effective, clear, and professional communication.
Hard Skills:
Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and regulations (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001). Excellent knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading and interpretation. Proficient with basic math skills. Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) operator experience.

ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (Preferred)
Must be able to read Machine Drawings, be familiar with SolidWorks or similar, understand manufacturing, shop or machining language and call outs, as well as be highly familiar with machining processes and understanding of a factory or manufacturing environment.
Machining, programming, or engineering experience preferred.
Work Schedule options:
Monday Thru Thursday, 6am to 5pm (4 x 10 Hour days, Friday off or OT)
