GP Strategies Government Solutions, Inc. has an opening for an Electrical Instructor to support a large aerospace client in Michoud (New Orleans), LA. This is a full-time, benefitted, onsite position Monday – Friday and the person needs to be willing to travel up to 20%. The shift is primarily on 1st but the candidate will need to be flexible and must be willing to teach on 2nd or another shift when needed. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt role.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Delivery of instructor-led electrical training covering a broad range of initial trainings and re-certification topics such as soldering and wire harness.
- Prepare pre-class tasks (obtain courseware, materials, exams, set-up, etc.)
- Ensure classroom is teach ready prior to class (clean, supplies for class, equipment etc,)
- Identify and notify course owner of errors in course or testing materials
- Notify lead or other designated person materials are in need of ordering /at threshold to order when observed.
- Perform post class cleaning to restore training area to its original “teach ready” condition in all training areas
Secondary activities include but not limited to:
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in support of root cause analysis, corrective action, and training related to audit activities
- Partner with workplace coaches in production
- Attend as training SME representative for meetings as requested by Training lead
- Shadow and/or 5S (Sorting, Simplifying, Sweeping, Standardizing, Self-Discipline) to improve operational efficiency
- Perform maintenance and/or file management of electronic and hard copy records
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience as a podium classroom instructor teaching subject matter in a formal adult classroom environment
- 3 years of experience with fabricating, installing, routing, terminating, soldering, and repairing electrical wiring harnesses; or any variety of electrical components, and associated equipment
- 3 years of experience constructing wire harnesses and panels by cutting, sorting, color-coding, measuring, stripping, crimping, soldering, and routing various lengths, types, and gauges of wire, heat-shrink, and other related materials
- Willing to travel up to 20%
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Current NASA 8739.4 Certified Instructor Trainer credential
- Experience in Space and Defense

- Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitors and read. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a virtual setting.
