Key Responsibilities
- Represent insurance companies and their policyholders in defense of claims, including personal injury, property damage, and liability cases.
- Manage cases from inception to resolution, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, taking depositions, and preparing for trial.
- Provide legal analysis and counsel on insurance coverage issues, policy interpretation, and claims handling.
- Develop and implement defense strategies for a wide range of matters, including both complex and routine cases.
- Negotiate settlements and engage in alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation and arbitration.
- Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and experts to drive case outcomes.
- Stay informed on trends and changes in insurance law and the broader legal landscape.
- Participate in the preparation and trial of cases, ensuring successful litigation strategies and outcomes.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- 3 years of experience in insurance defense, including experience with personal injury, property damage, and liability cases.
- Licensed to practice law in Missouri (required); Kansas license is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of civil procedure, litigation tactics, and insurance law.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft legal documents and interact with clients and opposing counsel effectively.
- Experience taking depositions and managing discovery processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong time management and organizational skills to handle multiple cases simultaneously.
