Purchasing Manager

Seeking a Purchasing Manager to join a growing organization.

Summary

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize quality, cost, and delivery performance
• Expand the supply base by identifying and selecting new suppliers based on quality, reliability, cost, and ethical standards
• Conduct negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and service levels
• Act as point of contact for internal partners, proactively addressing supply chain issues and opportunities
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Buyers. Coach warehousing operations team to provide procurement support
• Work closely with colleagues from different departments to ensure procurement activities are in line with organizational objectives
• Stay updated on industry trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing fluctuations through market research and analysis
• Foster strong relationships with suppliers, conducting ongoing performance evaluations and issue resolution
• Work closely with warehousing operations teams in management of inventory levels, and exploring inventory management strategies
• Continuously evaluate and improve procurement practices, identifying cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements
• Develop and maintain procurement metrics to track performance and report on sourcing effectiveness

Requirements

• Must have Commodities experience
• Must have experience managing others within the procurement function
• Bachelor's degree with professional experience in supply chain management, or a related field preferred
• Sourcing experience is preferred related to either metals or construction and building materials industries
• Proficiency in using procurement software and systems, preferably Oracle
• Extensive understanding of procurement principles, strategies, and effective approaches
• Strong skills in forecasting, budgeting, cost optimization, and negotiation techniques
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse internal customers
