Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of workers' compensation claims from inception to resolution, including hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Advise clients on their rights and options under Virginia workers' compensation law.
- Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents, such as petitions, motions, and briefs.
- Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel.
- Represent clients at hearings and trials before the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in workers' compensation law and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all case activity.
- Collaborate with other attorneys and staff to provide comprehensive legal services to clients.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Must be licensed to practice law in Virginia.
- 2-5 years of experience handling workers' compensation claims.
- Strong knowledge of Virginia workers' compensation law and procedures.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a high volume of cases efficiently and effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Experience with case management software is a plus.
