Architectural Designer – Federal Practice
GPD is currently seeking an Architectural Designer for our Akron, OH office location to support the Federal practice.

Role Requirements:
- Architectural Designer or Registered Architect with 3 - 5 years of experience in an architectural role on projects from concept through construction completion.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture; Master’s in Architecture preferred.
- Experienced in programming, working through creative solutions with the client, schematic design, design development, developing construction documents and specifications, and supporting projects through construction administration.
- Experience in government buildings preferred but not required.
- Revit/BIM experience required.
- Experienced and comfortable working directly with the client providing timely updates on project status, discussing project scope, etc.
- Demonstrates a customer service focus.
- Ability to work within a team environment working with individuals from various offices and in various disciplines.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, professional writing skills and the ability to multi-task between several projects and priorities at one time.
- Candidate should also be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Some travel may be required.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
Day-to-day job responsibilities:
- Architectural design and documentation of various project type responsibilities including code research, programming, client interfacing, design, documentation, specifications, and construction administration including field visits to projects.
- Due diligence and planning approvals on occasion including permitting research, submittals, and follow-up.
- Supporting the Project Manager with client meetings and correspondence.
- Researching design solutions and industry best practices.
- Coordination with all disciplines of design including our in-house engineers, designers, renderers as well as outside consultants.
- Coordinating other field services such as land and building surveys, environmental studies, and geotechnical studies.
- Building Assessments and Building Surveys
- Project documentation/administration.
- Construction administration.
