GPD is currently seeking a Mechanical Designer for our Energy team in our Akron, OH, and Houston/Dallas, TX office locations.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Relevant design engineering experience with 2 to 5 years of experience.
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Ability to design/draft mechanical aspects of Well Connects and Pig Launchers/Receivers.
- Ability to design/draft Compressor Stations and Metering and Regulating (M&R) Stations, relevant to industry.
- Experience and understanding using ASME B31.X codes.
- Have a working knowledge of IBC, NEC codes, NFPA codes, and construction methods.
- Understanding of the components in the mechanical design and estimate BOM quantities.
- AutoCAD experience required. Bluebeam and MS Office products experience preferred.
- Ability to coordinate QA/QC design reviews.
- Ability to help keep projects on schedule and have the appropriate communication skills to accomplish this.
- Must be organized and possess strong communication skills and professional writing skills.
- Ability to add value to weekly calls with utility companies and clients.
- Experience in supporting architects and engineers in design and organized documentation for project work.
- Ability to work within a team environment with individuals from various offices and disciplines, throughout design.
- Travel and field work will be required on occasion.
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Oil and Gas projects with mechanical design and documentation using AutoCAD.
- Being a flexible team member and willing to help with AutoCAD wherever the company’s needs exist.
- Preparation of construction documents based upon field surveys, available resources, and client requirements.
- Problem solving such as planning, researching design solutions, components, products, and alternatives.
- Collaboration with all disciplines and stakeholders.
- Travel and field work to collect data, develop solutions, and meet with clients.
