Responsibilities
- Designate SUE quality levels and apply to located utilities as per ASCE/UESI/CI 38-22 (previously 38-02).
- Coordinate and interpret utility records, survey drawings and GIS plots and maps.
- Use ground penetrating radar (GPR) and electromagnetic pipe and cable locators (EM PCLs) to mark-out and designate subsurface utilities.
- Collect RTK GPS points of marked-out locations and other assets and infrastructure.
- Take detailed notes during data collection and make accurate site sketches.
- Support other investigations, mapping and non-destructive evaluation and testing (NDE/NDT)
- Perform all tasks in a safe manner that adheres to GPI, DOT, client and OSHA requirements.
Qualifications
- High school Diploma/GED, certification or a degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, and GIS preferred.
- Valid Driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain GPI’s Authorized Driver Qualifications.
- Willingness to travel up to ~50% locally by company vehicle, ability to travel for up to 1-week continuous stays ~25%.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods and to be calm in high-stress scenarios.
- Experience with or knowledge of geophysical surveying and analysis a plus.
- Having strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, being detail-oriented and having mechanical aptitude will help you excel.
- Candidates with experience in utility location, AutoCAD or with survey equipment such as a Total Station preferred.
