Position : After School Program Teacher

Locations :

  • Star International Academy Dearborn Heights
  • Universal Academy Detroit

Start Date : March 3, 2025

End Date : May 22, 2025

Schedule : Monday - Thursday, 3 : 30 PM - 5 : 00 PM

Compensation : $40 per hour

Job Description :

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate individuals to join our After School Program team with a focus on literacy . This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students and make a positive impact on their academic growth, specifically in developing literacy skills. The role involves supporting students in a fun, engaging environment, assisting with literacy-based homework, activities, and fostering a safe, positive after-school experience.

Responsibilities :

  • Supervise and support students during after-school literacy activities.
  • Assist with homework help and academic enrichment focused on literacy skills.
  • Lead or facilitate engaging activities related to reading, writing, and language development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.

    • Qualifications :

  • A minimum of 60 credit hours from an accredited university or college; or
  • College Board’s SAT – Must score at least 480 on evidence-based reading and writing, and 530 on math; or
  • ETS Parapro Assessment – A passing score of 460 is required.

    • Preferred :

  • Bachelors of Science or Arts in Education.
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate and applicable endorsement(s) as required by the Michigan Department of Education.
