Description
The Patient Care Sitter/CNA assists with the routine care of their assigned patients under the direction of the professional nurse in a care partner dyad. Patient Care Sitter/CNA will participate in pulling and floating to any unit based on patient census and acuity to assist with routine care responsibilities. CNA is supervised by the Patient Care Services Manager, Unit Director, Nurse Manager, Team Leader, charge nurse, nursing supervisor, and care partner RN.

Essential Duties
- Ability to transfer patients within the hospital environment and assist with bed mobility.
- Answer call lights in a timely and courteous manner.
- Assist patients with all aspects of ADL's; observes the patient for physical and/or mental changes.
- Document chartable activities in computer.
- Feed patients and give them between meal fluids and nourishments.
- Follow and maintain isolation procedures, especially chemo precautions and radium implant precautions.
- Follow the interdisciplinary plan of care developed by the professional nurse.
- Make beds, occupied or unoccupied.
- Observes patient and environment for fall hazards.
- Observes patients for suicidal ideation and follows suicide precautions.
- Obtain and record patient weights: standing, bedscale, and wheelchair
- Perform bladder scanPerform downtime procedures.
- Promotes safety for patients and visitors.
- Provides emotional support for patients and visitors.
- Reports changes in patients' condition to the professional nurse.
- Restock supplies in patients' rooms.
- Take temperatures, pulse, respirations, B/P's, and measure and document I & O's.
- Utilize safety restraints and assistive devices appropriately.
- Walking rounds
Required Experience
- Nursing student who can show competence of a semester of clinical rotation.
- Completion of certified nurse aid course.
- CNA certificate registered with the State of Illinois or equivalent.
- Current CPR certification or obtainment within 6 months of hiring with subsequent recertification preferred.
