ABOUT THE POSITION


Job Title: Global Controller

Manager: Chief Financial Officer

Employment: Full-time (Hybrid)

Location: New York, NY

Annual Salary Range: $250,000 - $350,000


The Global Controller leads the accounting, financial reporting, and SOX activities across GQG’s global operations and is responsible for the leadership, development and execution of the Company’s corporate accounting function. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Global Controller drives results, enhances financial controls, streamlines and automates processes, and oversees compliance with our policies and procedures. These functions and processes aim to produce timely and accurate financial results across domestic and international locations in compliance with US and IFRS accounting standards, and adherence to SEC regulations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Manage the team to produce timely results in all areas of accountability.
  • Oversee the close processes and perform detailed reviews of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close financial statements and related deliverables.
  • Lead the consolidation of financial data from all domestic and international subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and SEC filing requirements.
  • Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, SOX-compliant internal controls across the global organization to mitigate financial risks and safeguard assets.
  • Ensure adherence and consistent application of all relevant accounting standards promulgated under US GAAP, IFRS, and other statutory requirements within each operating entity.
  • Cultivate a continuous improvement mindset: challenge and standardize existing processes and encourage the adoption of technology-based solutions and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate smooth audit processes and address any audit findings.
  • Manage and actively engage with the global accounting team, providing regular guidance, coaching and development opportunities to enhance team performance and ensure alignment with the firm’s objectives.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information to senior management, board of directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Set and effectively communicate department strategy and priorities, ensuring that team members are aligned with the broader company strategy and receive the support needed to succeed.
  • Collaborate with other departments, managers, peers, and teams to provide an exceptional product that benefits clients, investors, regulators, and the broader finance team.
  • Manage the relationship with the auditor and the audit process.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • 15 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 7 years of U.S. public company experience at the Senior Director level or higher in the asset management industry.
  • CPA with Big 4 public accounting firm experience and strong knowledge of SEC reporting requirements.
  • Self-motivated, results oriented team player who can credibly communicate with and relate to individuals at all levels of the Company.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement process and/or system improvements and lead through periods of change.
  • Track record of effectively managing both people and processes and contributing to the professional development and mentorship of teams and direct reports.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills with the ability to translate complex accounting matters to audiences that are less technical.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Accounting.
