What are the responsibilities and job description for the Church Musician position at Grace Baptist Church?
Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Musician to join our church staff. The ideal candidate will have experience as a keyboard accompanist for Sunday worship. This role will work with church staff and worship team in planning congregational and choral music aligning with spiritual worship themes, including innovative and blended styles of music that enhance and support varied worship experiences.
Duties
- The church musician will be the keyboard accompanist for worship on Sunday mornings and at other special events such as, but not limited to, Advent events, Lenten events, and denominational gatherings.
- Plan, organize and rehearse the choir weekly, September through May utilizing the designated choir room and equipment.
- Choose from Traditional, Gospel, and Contemporary styles of worship music that will enhance our celebration and facilitate the full and active participation of the congregation. Music selections will be approved in advance by the pastor and worship chair.
- Collaborate with pastor, other music staff, and the worship chair to plan worship and special events.
- Help recruit new volunteers for choir.
- Attend two events per week which will nearly always be Sunday mornings and mid-week evening choir practice.
- Strictly adhere to Grace Baptist Church policies and conduct himself/herself in such a way as is appropriate for a Christian minister in the Baptist tradition.

- Qualifications
- a degree in music is preferred, but not required (consideration for student interns includes working toward a degree.
- Ability to teach and rehearse choral vocalist and musicians at various levels of proficiency.
- Experience in leading choral music groups, preferred, but not required.
- Commitment to using music to enhance the Christian worship experience.
- Excellent communication, organization and teamwork skills with the ability to inspire and motivate singers/musicians.
- a background check will be conducted, and results will be considered.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $175.00 per week
Expected hours: 10 – 11 per week
