Green Bay Area Catholic Education- GRACE is seeking a Food Service Assistant for St. John the Baptist Catholic School for the 25-26 school year. This position is roughly 25hrs a week with summers off! This is a benefit-eligible position with the opportunity to enroll in healthcare benefits, PTO and retirement contributions.
This school cafeteria position will perform a variety of operational duties under the direction of the Director of Food Service to assist with daily food service production, serving and staffing efforts and ensure a quality food service program at all GRACE school sites.
Essential Functions:
- Assist Food Service Managers and GRACE site staff with daily food service production and service needs, as assigned by the Food Service Director.
- Assist with daily equipment and facility operational needs at all school sites.
- Ability to complete the required Food Service Documentation and submit food and beverage orders in the absence of the Food Service Manager
- Aid Food Service Manager in maintaining accurate Food Service Department Documentation. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) and Food Safety Logs, Production Records, Meal Pattern Signage, Nutrition Fact Information, CN (Child Nutrition) Labels, Product Formulation Statements (PFS Sheets), Invoice Verification
- Assist in serving and conducting accurate Point of Sale (POS) for all student and guest meals
- Assist in directing parent, guardian, family, and/or community volunteers with their predetermined daily lunchroom responsibilities
- Participate in new recipe development and taste testing events with students
- Follow all kitchen Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) daily as well as all Food Safety, Kitchen Safety, and Kitchen Cleanliness standards daily
- Knowledge of all Critical Control Point (CCP) required temperatures (preparation, storage, etc.)
- Train to be able to fill in for the absence of Food Service Manager
- In accordance with the new United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Professional Standards, this position will be required to attend 4-6 hours of training annually dependent on number of hours worked per week
- Communicate school site food service operations with the Director of Food Service.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Associates Degree in dietetics, nutrition, culinary arts, or food service management/administration preferred. Related experience may be substituted for formal education.
- Hands-on experience in quantity food preparation, production, food service management, purchasing, costing, portion control, and menu development.
- Experience with supervision/management of food service operations; quantity cooking and baking, menu planning, nutrition calculations, food allergy management, food safety, and sanitation a plus.
- Prior experience with a menu planning software preferred (Ex. - MOSAIC, NutriSlice).
- Must hold a valid ServSafe certification or be willing to obtain
- Desire and willingness to complete DPI continuing education requirements.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, and frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk. The employee will use the hands feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 50 pounds and stand 5-7 hours per day. Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
