Summary

The Music Teacher is responsible for introducing the world of music to children ages 6 weeks through age 5 using songs, simple instruments, and a variety of instructional materials, resources, and experiences in a multi-faceted preschool program. This position is 2 mornings a week.

Reports to School Co-Director(s)

Part Time 10 hours / week with opportunity for additional hours, $15.50-$19.00 / hour

Duties

Introduce children to the world of music using songs, simple instruments, and a variety of materials, resources, and experiences.
Prepare and lead our annual Christmas program and spring concert.
Complete lesson plans and goals in a timely fashion.
Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class at all times while in your care.
Serve as a role model for the children in the areas of attitude, speech and actions on a daily basis and treat each child with dignity and respect for his / her cultural background.
Accept and maintain responsibility on a daily basis for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and cleanliness of the learning environment.

Requirements

Associate or bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a complementary degree is preferred but not required. Musical background preferred.

Must meet Virginia licensure requirements and child care certification as necessary.

Pragmatic experience in a school setting.

Maintain confidentiality at all times.

Ability to perform physical labor as needed for the position.

Willing to become familiar with licensing standards, rules and regulations in regards to the health and safety of students.

Salary : $16 - $19
