Summary:
Grace Christian Academy is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Golf Coach to lead and develop our student-athletes in both skill and character. The successful candidate will be responsible for coaching and mentoring student-athletes in grades 6-12, fostering a Christ-centered team culture, and instilling values of sportsmanship, discipline, and perseverance. The Golf Coach will develop athletes both physically and spiritually, promoting a biblical worldview and helping students use their God-given talents to glorify Christ in competition and life.
This role provides a unique opportunity to impact students through mentorship, athletic training, and spiritual leadership while upholding the mission and values of Grace Christian Academy.
Major Duties:
- Plan and conduct effective golf practices that develop skills, techniques, and strategy for both individual and team performance.
- Instruct athletes on the fundamentals of the game, including rules, etiquette, swing mechanics, and course management.
- Promote a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, integrity, teamwork, and perseverance.
- Provide individualized coaching to help student-athletes improve their abilities and develop a passion for the game.
- Organize and oversee team participation in matches, tournaments, and championship events.
- Maintain communication with parents, administration, and athletic department staff regarding team schedules, expectations, and student progress.
- Ensure safety protocols and proper conduct are upheld at all times.
- Develop student-athletes spiritually by integrating biblical principles into coaching and encouraging Christ-like character on and off the course.
- Assist with the recruitment and development of players, fostering a long-term vision for the growth of the golf program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for the Position:
- Previous coaching or competitive golf experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of golf techniques, strategy, and training methods.
- Ability to teach and develop both beginner and advanced players in a structured and supportive environment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- A passion for mentoring and discipling young athletes in their spiritual and personal growth.
- Must be a committed Christian in agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith.
Additional Requirements:
- The Golf Coach must have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and be a member in good standing of a church of like faith and practice.
- The Coach shall reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ and pursue wisdom in every class and activity.
- Coaches must meet Illinois High School Association (IHSA) coaching qualifications.
Supervisory Controls:
- Reports to the Athletic Director.
Salary : $500 - $1,500
