Summary:
Grace Christian Academy is seeking a Varsity Volleyball Coach to lead a Christ-centered, competitive volleyball program that develops student-athletes both in skill and character. The coach will cultivate an environment of excellence, teamwork, and spiritual growth, using volleyball as a platform to disciple young women and prepare them for success in sports and life.
This position provides an opportunity to mentor student-athletes while building a strong, competitive program that reflects GCA’s commitment to honoring Christ in all things (Colossians 3:17).
Major Duties:
- Develop and lead a competitive varsity volleyball program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and discipline.
- Plan and conduct structured practices focused on advanced volleyball techniques, game strategy, and conditioning.
- Teach and reinforce sportsmanship, integrity, and perseverance, modeling Christ-like character (Philippians 2:3-4).
- Mentor and disciple players spiritually and personally, integrating biblical principles into coaching and leadership.
- Oversee team participation in matches, tournaments, and IHSA competitions, ensuring athletes represent GCA with excellence.
- Encourage academic success and personal growth, holding players to high standards on and off the court.
- Coordinate team logistics, including scheduling, transportation, and communication with parents and administration.
- Ensure compliance with IHSA regulations, eligibility requirements, and safety protocols.
- Engage in athlete development beyond the season, fostering a long-term vision for the program’s growth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for the Position:
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, training methods, and game strategy.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and develop student-athletes at the varsity level.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- A passion for using sports as a discipleship tool, developing student-athletes into Christ-honoring young women.
- Must be a committed Christian in agreement with GCA’s Statement of Faith.
Additional Requirements:
- The Volleyball Coach must have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and be a member in good standing of a Bible-believing church.
- Coaches must meet Illinois High School Association (IHSA) coaching qualifications.
- Reports to the Athletic Director and School Principal.
Salary : $500 - $1,500
