Early Childhood and Lower School Associate Teachers at Grace Church School
We are looking for Early Childhood (JK-1) and Lower School (Grades 2-4) Associate Teachers to start in August 2025. Associate Teachers assist Head Teachers in all aspects of the life of the classroom. They are part of a two-year program in which they receive training and support both in the classroom and in partnership with other Associate Teachers through a mentoring program. Associate Teachers work collaboratively with Head Teachers.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include planning and teaching lessons, classroom management, classroom set-up, providing small group support for students, leading whole group activities with the support of the Head Teacher, preparing materials, collaborating with Head Teacher(s) to support classroom routines, as well as recess, lunch, and morning duties. Other responsibilities include assisting with the writing of student reports, communicating regularly with grade level teams, attending faculty meetings, and participation in faculty professional development opportunities. Associates are a vital part of the Grace community and are encouraged to participate in school wide events.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates are aspiring classroom teachers interested in developing skills in lesson planning and instruction, in classroom management, and in the work of cultivating a community of dignity and belonging within our diverse and inclusive classroom communities. Essential qualities include a positive attitude toward working with young children, flexibility, solid writing skills, organization, attention to detail, and an ability to collaborate as part of a grade level teaching team. Experience working with children ages four to ten is preferred. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required. Candidates enrolled in a Master’s Degree Program in Education (JK-8) are preferred. The salary for this role is between $60,000 and $63,000 dependent on experience.
