Job Title: Histopathology Technician

Job Summary:
The Histopathology Technician plays a critical role in the preparation and analysis of tissue samples for diagnostic and research purposes. This individual will assist pathologists by performing specimen processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and quality control procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, fix, and process tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
- Embed, cut, and stain tissue sections using histological techniques.
- Perform special staining procedures as required.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microtomes, tissue processors, and staining machines.
- Ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and storage of specimens.
- Follow laboratory safety protocols and regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, and OSHA).
- Assist in quality control and assurance measures to maintain high diagnostic accuracy.
- Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Certification: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a histology laboratory.
- Strong knowledge of tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and compliance regulations.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
