Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting and processing blood samples from patients for laboratory testing. This individual ensures proper labeling, handling, and transportation of specimens while providing compassionate care to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
- Properly label, handle, and transport blood samples to the laboratory.
- Verify patient information and ensure accurate documentation.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while following infection control protocols.
- Assist with processing and preparing specimens for testing.
- Provide excellent patient care and ensure a comfortable experience.
- Follow safety, compliance, and regulatory guidelines (OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA).
- Maintain phlebotomy supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; completion of a phlebotomy training program preferred.
- Certification: Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) preferred (e.g., ASCP, NHA, AMT).
- Experience: At least 3 years of phlebotomy experience required.
- Strong knowledge of blood collection techniques and specimen handling procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
