Position Summary : The Music Therapist (MT-BC) works as a member of the interdisciplinary team working with terminally ill patients and their families. The MT-BC will provide music therapy services for assigned hospice patients and families, in accordance with the interdisciplinary plan of care. During an initial evaluation, MT-BC will assess the patient’s strengths and needs. MT-BC will develop and implement a care plan, evaluate outcomes, and perform required paperwork and team communication in a timely manner. MT-BC will manage their own schedule for making patient visits; taking into consideration : changing patient needs, team needs, and meetings.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Music Therapy from an accredited music therapy program.
  • Current board certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in music therapy; 2 years’ experience preferred.
  • Experience in Hospice preferred.
  • Must be a licensed driver with auto insurance and reliable daily transportation.
  • Able to work independently and as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Duties :

  • Attend Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings, music therapy team meetings, and all staff meetings.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide support to patients and families.
  • Document patient visits to reflect individualized care provided to patients in a timely manner.
  • Provide music for staff support and special Grace events as needed.
  • Provide educational in-services to the community and other professionals.
  • Utilize GarageBand computer software to create legacy gifts for patient families.
  • Interpersonal Relationships :

  • Display an attitude of courtesy and respect for all prospective patients, families, staff, and referral sources.
  • Function as a team member with other staff in the performance of duties.
  • Seek and accept feedback regarding the performance of job duties.
  • Be aware of patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Display an understanding of vulnerable adult issues.
  • Display an understanding of hospice patients’ rights.
  • Exhibit sound mature judgment.
