POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the ongoing nurture of the spiritual needs of The Community at Rockhill’s residents through one-on-one visitation, group activities, worship services and working on teams with other Community at Rockhill personnel and church pastors. The individual will lead the efforts to provide a spiritual presence while promoting spiritual growth for all residents.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assumes responsibility for planning Sunday morning service. This may include preaching by the chaplain or guest speakers, group participation, special music or chorus involvement. Involves residents and/or staff in planning and participation of campus services.
Work with Department heads (Volunteer coordinator; Director of Life Enrichment; Director of Residential Living; etc) in the planning of spiritual programming other than Sunday Services. Plans services and programs that enhance the spiritual life of the community.
Ability to minister in crisis situations anywhere in the community or in a hospital.
Provides counsel, listens to residents and staff, walks with them in their end of life transitions and prays with individuals as appropriate.
Ability to maintain an awareness of the spiritual status of residents and be available to read scripture, share in prayer, give words of inspiration and hope.
Ability to serve as contact person between residents and their own pastors and congregations.
Serves as a liaison to local pastors as needed or requested, and works cooperatively with the various faith and church denominations to ensure residents are appropriately served as they desire.
Plan and oversee the Chaplain budget and manages the expenses per the approved financial plan.
Ability to perform other related duties as proposed by the leadership team and as needed to fulfill the spiritual needs of the community.
Adheres to the Values and Expectations statement and element of the compliance program.
Supervise the pastoral volunteers to support regular worship and bible study opportunities.
Develop, in conjunction with Life Enrichment and Activities Departments, educational opportunities and excursions that encourage residents to explore their spiritual foundations.
Visit with the supporting churches and provide outreach services based upon their need.
