Job Title: Childcare Assistant for Grace Lutheran School summer childcare program
Job Dates: June 2 - August 22, 2024
Expected Hours: Flexible, but anywhere from 15-40/week
Pay: $14 -$17/hour, depending on experience
Job Summary: Assist the lead teacher(s) with daily activities at Camp Grace summer childcare.
Location: Camp Grace is located at Grace Lutheran School in Fargo.
Responsible to: Lead Childcare Teacher and Principal/Director
Age Information: Applicants as young as 17 may apply.
About Camp Grace
· Camp Grace serves children 4-12 years old. Our maximum capacity is 40.
· Camp Grace is overseen by the North Dakota Department of Human Services and adheres to all state childcare rules and guidelines.
· Camp Grace is open 7:30 am – 6:00 pm Monday through Friday from June 2 - August 22. Camp is closed on July 4.
Requirements
- Applicants must pass a background check and submit fingerprints to the North Dakota Department of Human Services. Cleared background check required before starting work, checks take 1-3 weeks for the State to process.
- Applicants must be CPR and First Aid certified, including pediatrics, or obtain certification within 60 days of employment (Camp Grace covers the cost.)
- Applicants must complete the Growing Futures Basic Childcare Course or other Growing Futures training within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities
· Assist in the supervision and management of children.
· Maintain an appropriate, nurturing recreational environment.
· Assist in record keeping and observations related to children’s arrival, departure, behavior, and location.
· Work with children on proper manners, behavior, and social interactions.
· Assist lead teacher or cook in portioning, serving, and cleaning up after meals and snacks.
· Maintain a clean, orderly, and efficient environment according to the daily routine of the group.
· Assist in planning and implementing fun activities.
· Participate in games and activities with the children; be engaged with the children.
· Accompany small children to and from the restroom.
· Assist children with minor injuries, bumps, bruises, etc.
· Be loving and gentle with children who are upset and help resolve disputes.
· Lock and check all doors when the last one to leave.
· Report injuries, incidents, and behavior issues to parents upon pickup.
· Other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.
