Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing quality care to our patients, ensuring that they receive their medications safely and effectively. This position requires a strong understanding of medical protocols, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications to patients as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to the supervising nurse or physician.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication administration and patient responses in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist with catheter care, tube feeding, and other personal care tasks as needed.
  • Provide support in home community care settings, fostering a safe and supportive environment for patients.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans for patients with dementia or other conditions.
  • Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic for documentation and communication regarding patient care.
  • Engage in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices in caregiving and medication management.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of physiology and medical terminology related to medication administration.
  • Experience in caregiving, particularly with dementia care or similar conditions.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data protection.
  • Proficiency in catheter care and tube feeding procedures is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work effectively within a medical office setting, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • A compassionate approach towards patient care, emphasizing empathy and understanding in all interactions.
