Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Administer medications to patients as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to the supervising nurse or physician.
- Maintain accurate records of medication administration and patient responses in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with catheter care, tube feeding, and other personal care tasks as needed.
- Provide support in home community care settings, fostering a safe and supportive environment for patients.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans for patients with dementia or other conditions.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic for documentation and communication regarding patient care.
- Engage in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices in caregiving and medication management.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology and medical terminology related to medication administration.
- Experience in caregiving, particularly with dementia care or similar conditions.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Proficiency in catheter care and tube feeding procedures is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work effectively within a medical office setting, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
