What are the responsibilities and job description for the Music Director position at Grace Methodist Metroplex?
Reporting Relationship:
The Music Director will report directly to the Senior Pastor. He or she will be considered a staff member and will have to attend staff meetings and worship committee meetings when scheduled by the Pastor.
The Music Director will work as scheduled throughout the week for planning, rehearsing, and for worship services. On call for weddings, funerals, and other dedicated events. This Staff member will work with the praise team, as well as congregational volunteers.
Position Purpose:
To minister to the church through music. The Music Director shall aid in creating an atmosphere for Worship.
Duties:
- The Music Director will manage all the music of the church for all events and services
- Support spiritual growth and leadership for the music department
- Accompany soloists and ensembles as needed
- Assist in Maintenance of Music Library and Choir folders
- Assist in the preparation of music as needed for rehearsals
- Assume other duties and responsibilities as delegated by Pastor. or Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee (SPPRC)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Experience as a Music Director for a church
- Ability to lead a music department
- Authentic relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and a continually developing spiritual life
- Strong collaborator with the music team, church staff and congregation
- Committed to the church's vision, leadership and people
- Dependable, punctual, responsible, initiative-taking, and creative with the ability to take the initiative in various projects
Qualifications:
- Ability to read, play and direct music
- Ability to aid with the development of the choir and praise team
- Flexible availability to accommodate the schedule of church activities
- Ability to lead worship and to train others as individual and team worship leaders
- Experience in producing and directing dedicated events, musicals and programs to include weddings, funerals, special services including Holy Week and Christmas Eve
- Ability to produce and direct various forms of music including hymns, biblically sound contemporary and tradition
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15,000.00 - $27,000.00 per year
