What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equipping Pastor position at Grace Presbyterian Church?
Summary of Ministry Areas of Responsibility
The Equipping Pastor will provide strategic leadership for and daily oversight of family and adult ministries. In this role, the selected candidate will:
· Develop and cultivate the discipleship and spiritual formation process for Grace, evaluating efforts regularly to ensure programs, outreach, and other efforts are aligned with Grace’s strategy and core beliefs.
· Establish an equipping strategy which involves creating, curating, and evaluating courses and curriculum as well as plans for implementation
· Build flexible and sustainable processes and systems to support the efforts of the staff and volunteers and to create efficiencies.
· Coach, mentor, develop, and hold accountable the various ministry teams, which include both staff and volunteers, with the goal of advancing their leadership and discipleship.
Key Responsibilities
Discipleship and Spiritual Growth
· Alongside the Lead team, develop and implement a robust, theologically sound plan to foster spiritual growth in mature, relationally connected disciples of Jesus Christ.
· Facilitate environments where covenant partners of all ages can encounter God’s truth, engage in authentic relationships, and grow in their faith.
· Lead Bible studies, discipleship classes, and group sessions that challenge participants to deepen their understanding of Scripture with the ultimate goal of being transformed by Christ.
· Continue to foster the work of discipleship and culture change, where all will better understand that stewardship and generosity are responses of discipleship.
Teaching and Pastoral Leadership
· Serve as a teacher and leader and develop lay leaders within the church’s discipleship ministries, to effective communicate biblical truths with clarity, relevance, and authenticity.
· Provide theological training and guidance to staff, volunteers, and covenant partners, ensuring alignment and attunement with church mission, vision, and values.
· Be available for pastoral counseling and spiritual guidance, offering pastoral care when needed.
· Assist with worship services and Special worship services, including baptisms, weddings, and funerals.
· Serve as a member of Grace Executive Leadership Team.
Team Management and Development
· Oversee and develop leaders within various adult, youth, and family discipleship ministries, ensuring they are equipped and supported to serve their teams effectively.
· Recruit, train, and develop volunteers to lead small groups, Bible studies, discipleship initiatives and teams.
· Set performance goals and provide regular feedback, fostering a culture of spiritual and personal growth within the ministry teams marked by authentic accountability.
Organization Leadership and Ministry Development
· Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and other ministry Pastors/Directors to align discipleship goals with Grace’s overall mission, vision, and values.
· Develop, implement, and oversee strategic plans for the spiritual formation ministry, ensuring they are adaptable yet sustainable and meet the needs of a diverse congregation.
· Manage budgets, resources, and schedules, while maintaining accountability for program effectiveness and stewardship.
· Design and implement effective systems to enhance ministry efficiency, communication, and overall impact.
Community Engagement
· Position people to connect relationally in neighborhoods, the workplace, and other places to demonstrate the gospel of Jesus Christ.
· Be a spiritual leader within the community, encouraging covenant partners to live out their faith in ways that deepen their connection to God and one another, fostering a culture of hospitality and openness. Be specific when describing each of the responsibilities. Use gender-neutral, inclusive language.]

Qualifications
· Embody a deep inner spiritual life that can serve as a pacesetter and model for Grace’s staff and church culture, helping them to understand and see what an ongoing and lifelong pursuit of being formed into the image of Jesus looks like.
· Minister of the Word and Sacrament with a minimum of five years ordained ministry experience in a variety of ministry areas.
· Proven experience working in a large, multi-staff church settings.
· The spiritual gifts or teaching, administration, strategic leadership, pastoring, etc.
· Strong teacher and communicator.
· Embraces and agrees to be bound by ECO Essential Tenets and ECO Polity.
· A commitment to Grace’s core mission, vision, and values and, more importantly, a strong belief in and evident commitment to living a life transformed by the power of Jesus Christ.
