What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Chef- Grace Cooks Commercial Kitchen position at Grace Reliant Health Services LLC-1?
Grace Reliant's growing Grace Works Academy team is looking to invite a Chef to help expand our employment services opportunities and support our Grace Coffee & Cafe that aligns with the heart and voice of our organization. We exist to help people live more complete and independent lives. Through our many services we provide care, support, and mentorship to elderly and disabled residents in Missouri.
In this role, you will oversee all of the operations of the kitchen in coordination with Grace Coffee & Cafe and Grace Grows Farm. In addition to the typical duties of an executive chef, this person will train, mentor and oversee individuals with developmental disabilities in culinary skills in the hopes that they will be able to transition to culinary jobs in the community needing minimal supports.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development and then maintain a new commercial training kitchen and equipment to the highest health department codes and standards.
- Coordinate and facilitate culinary classes for individuals with developmental disabilities
- Mentor and supervise individuals with developmental disabilities as interns, sou chefs, and kitchen staff to accomplish the following:
- Oversee all off-site baking and catering for Grace Coffee & Cafes
- Serve Grace Reliant Health Services with daily lunch menu for its staff and guests, prepare birthday cakes for its staff
- Produce regular farm to table dinners and other special events
- Produce jams, jellies, pickles and other value added items for sale from the produce from Grace Grows Farms.
- Create all menus
- Purchasing
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or higher education in culinary arts preferred
- Good time management
- Teaching experience and the ability to write lesson plans
- Experience in leadership, team-building and mentoring
- Proven culinary expertise
- Food handler's certification
- Good organizational skills
- Creativity
- Excellent communication skills
