The Residential House Manager supports and oversees residential Direct Support Professionals under the supervision of the Program Director. This role involves training and supervising staff, managing schedules for both staff and participants, handling time off requests, ensuring documentation compliance and serving as the primary contact for staff, participants, families and stakeholders.
The Residential House Manager must demonstrate proactive problem-solving, independent decision-making and the ability to build strong relationships with team members, families, community partners and agencies. Regular communication is maintained through phone calls, emails and meetings. Additionally, the Residential House Manager must have knowledge of adult services systems and a commitment to learning about resources available to individuals and families affected by developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Residential House Manager Responsibilities (Reports to Program Director)
1. Operational Oversight
a. Manage overall home operations, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
b. Train and implement procedures for staff and individuals.
c. Collaborate with the director.
2. Financial Management
a. Oversee budgeting and financial planning, coordinating with the representative payee or guardian.
3. Home Management and Coordination of Care
a. Ensure a safe and supportive environment for individuals served.
b. Address individual concerns and facilitate communication with families.
c. Works two shifts per week alongside DSP’s for additional training and oversight, must include weekend shifts and holidays.
d. Attend medical and dental appointments as needed, ensuring updates to medications or medical needs, and upload MAIR forms.
e. Conduct bi-weekly medication audits in all homes.
f. Ensure timely and accurate documentation.
4. Payroll Management
a. Accurately record staff hours for payroll processing.
5. Schedule Management
a. Develop and submit staff schedules for director approval.
6. Staff Management
a. Evaluate staff performance and conduct performance reviews with director.
b. Manage staff schedules effectively.
c. Conduct monthly staff meetings
7. Quality Assurance
a. Monitor care quality and individual satisfaction.
b. Implement improvements based on feedback and audits.
8. Community Relations
a. Build and maintain relationships with external agencies, families and the community.
b. Represent the homes in meetings and events.
This position requires a flexible schedule that includes, nights, weekends, and holidays. The manager is expected to work 2-3 shifts per week in the homes alongside the DSP. This position has ON-call responsibilities. Travel to other locations is to be expected.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma required.
2. Must be at least 21 years of age
3. Successfully pass background checks and drug screening
4. Proficient in using personal computers and software, including database systems, Therap, spreadsheets and word processing.
5. Reliable transportation
6. CPR, First Aid certification preferred
7. Strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills
8. Strong organization and time management skills
9. Ability to function and lead in a team environment
10. Ability to work collaboratively with staff
