GSL Middle School Learning Specialist
Grace-St. Luke’s Episcopal School seeks a full-time Middle School Learning Specialist to support students and faculty in a collaborative, community-oriented environment for the 2025-26 school year. This student-facing role works closely with faculty, administration, and families to foster academic growth, provide individualized support, and promote student success.
Responsibilities
The Learning Specialist works directly with students in grades 5-8, providing one-on-one and small-group instruction, developing learning goals, and implementing strategies to support diverse learning needs. Responsibilities include collaborating with teachers to differentiate instruction, participating in classroom activities, and providing professional development as needed. Additionally, the specialist maintains confidential student records, tracks progress through assessments and reports, and communicates regularly with families. The specialist also partners with external professionals, attends parent conferences, and recommends school and community resources. Engaged in the broader school community, this individual participates in meetings, school events, and activities.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required, with an advanced degree or specialized training preferred. Candidates should have at least three years of teaching experience, a strong understanding of learning differences, psycho-educational assessments, and interventions in areas that include executive functioning, math, and literacy. Success in program development, differentiated instruction, and student progress monitoring is essential, along with outstanding communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technologically proficient, and enthusiastic about working in an academic setting.
