What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Facilities position at Graceland Church?
With administrative direction, The Director of Facilities plans, organizes, and directs the facility operations department in performing maintenance, housekeeping, grounds, and event service functions in support of Graceland Church ministry goals, vision, and core values of the Facilities & Operations, FACOPS Department.
The Director of Facilities is responsible for the planning and development of existing facilities and new construction for all church campuses and properties. Monitors projects to ensure efficient completion within specified guidelines and projected deadlines. Manage annual budgets for the facilities operations and ensure optimal utilization of personnel and other resources.
- Manage the annual budget to include justification of building expenditures and
repairs and analyses of operating expenses which include administration of multiple contracts for the operation and maintenance of the facilities.
- Communicate with the Executive Director of Operations the needs, regulations,
and procedures for effective facility operations to facilitate cooperative relationships with building staff.
- Approve specifications and recommend contractors to perform maintenance and repair services by using established procedures.
- Maintain current drawings and engineering records describing facilities, equipment, and grounds.
- Develop, implement, and monitor an energy conservation program, making
recommendations for efficiency and reduction in the costs of operating the facilities.
- Attend the required meetings and serve, as appropriate, on staff committees.
- Monitor facilities, grounds, and equipment to ensure that high standards for cleanliness, attractiveness and safety are maintained.
- Recruit and lead volunteers and volunteer teams

Prefer a bachelor’s degree in engineering or in a field related to organizing and leading a program of maintaining facilities
Prefer at least five years of experience in construction and/or property management, with a minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity
- Have excellent leadership and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate good moral character, initiative, and the ability to motivate people.
- Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with staff, administration, congregants, children, parents, and visitors.
- Knowledge of regulations requirements and procedures governing leases and contracts.
- Knowledge of construction codes, health and safety regulations, financial and
management practices, purchasing, supervision and state and local regulations regarding the maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Knowledge of crafts and trades used in operating and maintaining a large facility.
- Ability to analyze and evaluate policies and operations and formulate recommendations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written.
- Ability to use computers for Microsoft Office products , data management, and telecommunications.
- Ability to provide leadership and supervision to professional, technical, and related personnel.
- Ability to communicate in English and Spanish a plus
- Ability to manage change, provide program management, and achieve results.
- Ability to develop short and longrange plans that meet established objectives
and contribute to the overall goals and mission of the church.
