OVERVIEW
This role is a combination of online librarian and adjunct instructor.
The Gracelyn Librarian is a part-time expert course resource assessor. This person combs through our online resources, analyzing effectiveness, authenticating standards, and making recommendations as needed in order to ensure that we are providing students with the most recent, research-based information for their studies.
Adjunct Instructors are the part-time educators of Gracelyn University. They welcome, guide, and encourage students through the completion of our online courses. Actualizing academic excellence and grace in the classroom, our adjunct instructors demonstrate the life of competent and compassionate educators.
WHAT YOU DO AS LIBRARIAN
- Review and assess Gracelyn’s online courses as requested by the Chief Academic Officer, such as relevance, effectiveness, and being up-to-date.
- Provide feedback and recommending improvements for course resources, such as textbooks, journals, articles, media, etc.
- Review and report on the state of Gracelyn's Library, including recommendations for improvement.
WHAT YOU DO AS ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR
- Engage with students in asynchronous courses through discussion forums, assignment feedback, announcements, and other means of communication.
- Develop minimal course content (weekly 1-5 minute introduction videos) for courses that are already built. Very minimal course prep and no live teaching.
- Guide and encourage students through coursework, such as answering questions, preparing for assessments, recommending additional resources, and providing helpful performance feedback.
- Provide extra support to students who require it and schedule consultation times where questions and concerns can be voiced.
- Keep up to date with advancements in the field and integrate new knowledge into lessons.
WHAT MAKES YOU SHINE
- A Doctoral degree or Master’s degree in Library Sciences.
- An additional Doctoral degree or Master’s degree in a content area of instruction.
- 5 years in K-12 education.
- Experience in teaching in higher education.
- Be a compassionate educator, maintaining academic excellence while adjusting to student needs.
- Be technologically intuitive, comfortable working in, researching, and solving issues in an LMS.
- Be a fast learner, an excellent communicator, an encourager, well-organized, and self-motivated.
THIS IS SOME BONUS SHINING
- Experience in online teaching and online course design.
- 10 years in K-12 education.
- 5 years in higher education.
- Experience with a Learning Management System, such as Canvas.
WHAT YOU’LL GET
- Resource assessment as librarian is compensated hourly.
- With instructor work, you are compensated per student, so your pay strongly correlates to the amount of work you do. The larger the class, the more you receive.
