Essential Role: The Director of Development plays a pivotal role in GraceMed, responsible for meticulously planning, organizing, and directing activities related to securing financial support. This includes philanthropic contributions from various sources such as government entities, private and public foundations, corporations, individuals and families, churches and associations. The primary objective is to ensure adequate resources are garnered to sustain GraceMed's operations and programs. This role encompasses fundraising initiatives spanning major gifts, annual fund, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns.
This role is pivotal in upholding GraceMed's mission with unwavering integrity and passion within the community and among staff members. Collaborating closely with the Chief Executive Officer and senior management, the Director ensures the ministry possesses the requisite resources to support its annual operating budget and facilitates capital campaign endeavors to expand or replace essential assets. Effective coordination with the Marketing Team is essential to align development and fundraising efforts seamlessly.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Possess in-depth knowledge of funding sources to proactively identify funding opportunities.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of GraceMed's programs to articulate their funding needs persuasively to potential donors.
- Gather and analyze data on the healthcare needs of targeted communities, effectively communicating these needs to potential donors.
- Maintain consistent communication with the CEO, providing updates and addressing donor challenges.
- Cultivate relationships with prospective donors and supporters, facilitating effective communication and coordinating introductions/follow-ups with the CEO.
- Develop and expand the major gifts program, including identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major donors.
- Expand the planned giving program, focusing on deferred gifts such as bequests.
- Direct the annual fund program, overseeing mailings and fundraising drives.
- Lead capital campaigns and major fundraising events.
- Coordinate and staff Development Committee meetings.
- Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems, including gift acknowledgement/recognition programs.
- Collaborate closely with marketing and social media staff to align fundraising messages.
- Coordinate fundraising efforts and events across all GraceMed locations in collaboration with department staff.
- Collaborate with the CEO, Marketing, and Senior Management to bolster fundraising efforts and provide support where needed.
Qualifications:
Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations
- Bachelor's degree or minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising or resource development, preferably in healthcare, with progressively increasing levels of responsibility and experience.
- Demonstrated success in writing and securing donor funding.
Experience
- Successful track record in at least two of the following areas: corporate relations, direct mail, annual giving, major gifts, database management, donor relations, volunteer management, capital campaigns, prospect research, e-philanthropy, etc.
- Preference for healthcare or non-profit experience.
Technical Skills
- Ability to motivate and work effectively with staff, Board members, and volunteers.
- Self-starter with a goal-driven approach to donor visits and fundraising calls.
- Strong organizational skills with a commitment to follow-through on tasks and goals.

Work Schedule:
Normal schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm., schedule may vary. Evening and weekend duties are possible.
Working Conditions:
Administrative office environment. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 30lbs.) may be required. Ability to read computer screens for extended periods of time. Interaction with physicians, patients and other office personnel. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with computer. Must have auditory acuity to handle phone calls.
