- Company Discount PerksPOSITION SUMMARY : Provide direct nursing care to patients with a behavioral health disorder based on a systematized body of knowledge. Oversees care provided by Behavioral Health Technicians. Utilizes nursing process including assessment, identification of nursing problems, planning, execution, evaluation and modification of nursing interventions as determined by patient outcomes. Acknowledges, coordinates and implements diagnostic and therapeutic orders. Assures patient safety through safe administration of medications, prevention of violent behavior, patient injury, and infection control. Participates as a contributing member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. Participates in Quality Improvement activities.QUALIFICATIONS : Licensed Practical Nurse program with 1 year experience preferred. Current, unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Florida. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, patients, families, employees, and the general public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and request the assistance of the RN when necessary. Ability to multi-task, display decision-making and critical thinking skills, and basic computer skills.FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE :
- Assess physiological, psychosocial, and environmental needs of patients and report finding to the Registered Nurse.
- Implement the plan of care based on nursing standards and practice.
- Evaluate the appropriateness of nursing interventions defined in the plan of care.
- Ensure accurate and complete required documentation to be approved by a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrate competency in critical thinking and decision-making skills and involve a Registered Nurse when required.
- Monitor staff and continuous workflow of the program.
- Share professional and technical knowledge following policies and procedures.PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- Abilities in reaching, bending, talking, fingering, sitting, carrying, standing, grasping, fine hand coordination, ability to hear, ability to read and write, and the ability to remain calm under stress.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds of dead weight alone.
