I have an immediate need for an in-home 8th grade Algebra 1 tutor in Runnings Springs near the Postcard Cabins Big Bear and the Running Spings Fire Department. The student is an 8th grader attending Mary Putnam Henck Intermediate School. He needs to work with a tutor for help in Math.
Last year, the student started to face some challenges academically, and while that may partly be due to not fully understanding certain concepts with algebraic equations it seems to be more about confidence, which is affecting his comprehension and leading to struggles in specific areas. His teacher has noted that when he encounters something he doesn't understand, he tends to stop trying and give up, so the mother's looking to boost his motivation. The student also finds testing quite difficult, mentioning that his homework often differs significantly from what he sees in the exams. Additionally, his mother has shared that he has a 504 plan in place because he has epilepsy.
The main goals for the student are to ensure he stays on track with his curriculum, that he understands the content, and to help boost his confidence so we can prepare him for next year so he can reach grade level.
Mom wants 1 hour sessions once a week on Wednesday between 4pm-8pm.
Job Requirements
- Tutor must be willing to work in person, face to face at the student's home in Runnings Springs near the Postcard Cabins Big Bear and the Running Spings Fire Department.
- Tutor must be available for 1 hour sessions once a week on Wednesday between 4pm-8pm.
- Minimal travel required to meet with student (you decide the distance you are willing to travel, typically 5-10 miles)
- Due to insurance requirements applicants must not be a minor.
