I have an immediate need for an in-home ESE 1st grade tutor in Lake Forest near the east end of Nature Park not far from the Aesthetic Climbing Gym. Dad is asking for a teacher/tutor who has experience working with special needs students with autism and/or who are non-verbal. The student is in 1st grade being homeschooled. He is autistic and non-verbal and needs to work with a tutor for English, reading, writing, and math.
The student has autism and is non-verbal and uses AACD device with LAMP software to communicate. The student does understand phonics. He shows his understanding by pointing to letters but needs help learning how to read by blending words, starting with small ones and learning how to sound them out.
At the moment he is not writing; but the main focus right now is on focusing to comprehend reading and sounding out words. Later we can focusing on writing. The student knows his numbers up to 100 but needs help with the math problems/arithmetic.
The goal for the student is to get him to grade level.
Dad wants 1 hour sessions 2 times a week. Dad is flexible with the schedule.
Job Requirements
- Tutor must be willing to work in person, face to face at the student's home in Lake Forest near the east end of Nature Park not far from the Aesthetic Climbing Gym.
- Tutor must have experience working with special needs students with autism and/or who are non-verbal.
- Tutor must be available for 1 hour sessions 2 times a week.
- Minimal travel required to meet with student (you decide the distance you are willing to travel, typically 5-10 miles)
- Due to insurance requirements applicants must not be a minor.
