What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Tutor / Education Coach position at GradePower Learning?
About us
We're a growing learning center on the south end of Naperville and hoping to add more tutors to our team. We go way beyond simply tutoring, though.
Our teaching methodology is geared toward helping students master their own mind - not simply get a grade. Tutors are trained in teaching methods that encourage students to continue learning independently after the lesson is done. We coach all ages and all subjects.
We train all of our staff to teach to a high degree of expertise both in and outside their "comfort zone," including K-8 core reading/writing/math skills, ACT/SAT, and study skills.
The Role
Tutors work in a 3-1 student-teacher ratio. They facilitate student's time during 1 or 2 hour lessons and teach concepts as needed. We provide robust lesson plans and curriculum for skill development in reading, writing, math, and study habits for all grade levels.
High school subject tutoring will use school syllabi in conjunction with our resource library and study skills curriculum. Tutors will also need to become proficient in ACT/SAT, CogAT, SSAT, and other test formats as needed - training provided as needed.
Strong organization and communication skills are a must. Clear lesson plan notation and communication with coordinators / directors is necessary for teacher-student success.
Right now, our greatest needs are high school Chemistry and Math (through AP levels).Candidates proficient in other subject areas are encouraged to apply.
This is an ideal position for those hoping to break into education or start their teaching career.
Must have at least some college experience, Bachelor's preferred.
Recent graduates and grad students are encouraged to apply.
