Graduation Alliance is looking for a Student Success Coach to join a team dedicated to helping at-risk high school seniors reach graduation day. We are looking to fill positions in the following region:
Southern NM (Roswell or Lovington area): **Part Time
Success Coaches work directly with students to implement interventions intended to increase student success. In addition to meeting with students in person, coaches will maintain support virtually via phone, email, text,and virtual meeting. Coaches are the primary point of contact for academic resources and will work with students to develop learning plans, complete credit recovery courses, encourage regular attendance, assist with study skills, and help students stay motivated.
Duties And Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
Success Coaches mentor students proactively through the process of earning a high school diploma, including:
- Conducting regular in-person meetups to provide:
- social/emotional support and information around community resources.
- accountability to completing credits needed for graduation
- Understanding barriers to student success and implementing interventions to help students overcome those barriers and reach graduation.
- Reviewing graduation requirements and creating learning plans for students
- Reviewing post-graduation goals and helping students create a “high school and beyond” plan
- Scheduling and coordinating student testing
- Ensuring students have the tools, supplies, and support they need to maintain their goals.
- Monitoring, tracking, and recording student communications and interactions
- Maintaining open, safe, and regular communication with students, parents, and school staff.
- Ensuring that processes and procedures comply with local, school district, and federal regulations as defined by senior management
Qualifications:
Required: In addition to residing in or near the regions of service listed above
and passing a New Mexico background check, eligible candidates must have:
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between school locations for in-person work daily.
- Experience building relationships with at-risk students
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Critical thinking skills, good listening skills, and ability to problem solve
- Comfort with technology, social media, and learning management systems
- Well-developed emotional intelligence (ability to empathize/sympathize and motivate)
- Strong organizational skills (including an ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently)
Strongly Preferred:
- An undergraduate degree in education or counseling
- One year of successful educational counseling experience
- Experience in high school teaching, tutoring, or mentoring
- Experience managing a large caseload of 200-300 students with varying needs of support.
