Summary :
The Director of Health Information Management has oversight of the HIM, facility-based Coding, and Clinical Documentation
Improvement departments within the Revenue Cycle. This includes, but is not limited to responsibility for the planning,
administration, control and quality of facility Coding, CDI and HIM department activities in accordance with accrediting,
licensing and certifying agencies. The Director also has responsibility for system wide medical records
housed OB / Vital Records, Employee / Occupational Health Records and works in a consultative capacity regarding HIM and CDI functions for internal and external healthcare operations.
This role requires a strategic, forward-thinking leader who works collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders and proactively identifies opportunities for increased departmental efficiency through performance improvement initiatives and technological enhancements in the HIM, Coding and CDI space.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business, healthcare administration, nursing or related field.
Minimum of five years supervisory or leadership experience in HIM, Coding or CDI in an acute care setting.
Extensive knowledge of Revenue Cycle strategies and experience in an Academic medical center
Extensive knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations relating to HIM, Coding and CDI.
Experience in using continuous quality improvement concepts, tools and techniques.
Knowledge of DRG and APC reimbursement methodologies as well as third party billing requirements Knowledge of TJC guidelines, as well as Georgia and Federal regulations related to health information management.
